Botox® Cosmetic is a safe treatment which has been used to treat multiple conditions over the prior 2 decades, and is FDA-cleared to treat the wrinkles or frown lines between the eyebrows. Botox® Cosmetic is a natural purified protein that is used to relax the muscles that cause frown lines and wrinkles. It is often used to treat other anatomic regions of wrinkling on the face.

Any patient interested in reducing the wrinkles associated with dynamic function is a great candidate for this treatment. There are several different brand name injectables on the market. Lisa works with the patient to discover their wants and works with their particular facial shape to select the correct options for their situation. Botox® Cosmetic is most often used aesthetically to treat the vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows, the deep wrinkles of the forehead, and the “crow’s feet” wrinkles near the eyes. The wrinkles around the nose, lips, and neck can also be treated. Patients are generally satisfied with a refreshed and less “harsh” appearance.
Men and women in their 30s and beyond who have mild to moderate drooping, lines, and wrinkles in the forehead, face and/or neck are typically good candidates for Botox ®. We can also perform the treatment as a non-surgical eyelift or on other areas of the body, such as the upper arms, stomach, and thighs.
You must also be in overall good health and have realistic expectations of the treatment. Facelift threading is best suited for those who want to enhance their appearance without resorting to cosmetic surgery.
Results generally begin to become evident in 3-4 days after your Botox ® injections. The effects continue to develop over the first 2 weeks and then remain the same for the next 3-4 months. Some patients have reported results for as long as 6 months following their Botox ® treatment.
The injections are always performed by Lisa in her procedure room. The time required for Botox ® injection is generally less than 10 minutes, but Lisa carefully plans her injections and discusses post-treatment care with her patients.
Botox® Cosmetic and facial fillers are very different from one another. As described above, Botox® Cosmetic functions to relax muscles that cause wrinkles. Facial fillers function to fill deep furrows, folds, or wrinkles, and can be used to augment certain parts of the face.
There is no real downtime after a Botox® injection and patients can generally resume their normal daily activities. We generally recommend that patients remain in an upright position and refrain from exercise over the 4-6 hours following the injection of Botox®.
